Kamila is an AI-powered speaking-practice app built for English learners. The App is designed to help users move past passive, memorization-based English study and into active, spoken use of the language.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with its terms, please do not access the App. Alongside this Privacy Policy, please also read our Terms of Service (EULA).

2.1 Account information

To use the App, we may collect the following basic information:

• Name and email address (for account creation)
• Profile information (optional)
• Your learning preferences and level

2.2 Microphone permission & voice data

Kamila needs microphone access to let you practice spoken English. This permission is required for the App's core functionality.

Important information about microphone use:

• While you hold the microphone button, your voice is recorded and sent to Google Cloud to be transcribed into text.
• The transcribed text is sent to OpenAI to generate a reply and to produce that reply's spoken voice.
• This sharing only happens after you give explicit, in-app permission.
• Voice recordings are not retained permanently on our own servers — they are deleted once processing is complete.
• You can withdraw this permission at any time from Settings inside the App.

You can also revoke microphone access at any time from your device settings. If you do, voice-practice features become unavailable, but you can still practice by typing.

2.3 Usage data

To improve the App, we may collect the following usage data:

• Which features you use
• Your learning progress and achievements
• Your in-app preferences

Common terms

• These providers process your data only on our behalf and return a response to us.
• These providers are contractually required to provide the same or equal protection of your data as described in this Privacy Policy.
• Your data is not sold or rented to these providers, and it is not shared with data brokers, for advertising purposes.
• You can withdraw your permission at any time in the App's Settings; once withdrawn, no further data is sent to the AI assistant.
• These services may operate servers outside your country, including in the United States; your data may be transferred internationally as a result.

Apart from the providers above, your data is not shared with third parties for commercial purposes, except for infrastructure providers (such as cloud storage) necessary to operate the service. Data is kept anonymized except where required by law.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the App
• Personalize your English-learning experience
• Track your progress and give you feedback
• Improve the App's performance
• Provide technical support
• Support security and identity verification

We take appropriate security measures to protect your personal information:

• Your data is stored encrypted
• It is hosted on secure servers
• It is protected against unauthorized access
• We apply regular security updates

That said, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You can delete your account from within the App, or by emailing support@kamila.app.

What happens when you request deletion:

• Your account is set to inactive once we receive your request.
• If the account remains unused for 90 days, all of your data is permanently deleted.
• If you log back in during those 90 days, your account is reactivated.
• Data deleted after the 90-day period: account information, learning data, and profile information.
• Voice data: never retained — it is processed in the moment and then deleted.

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request access to your personal information
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and data
• Objection — object to how we process your data
• Portability — request that your data be transferred to you or another service
